What does each term in jewelry software mean?
Definitions of the terms used in the guide and on this site. When you look a term up, check the unit and the scope shown on screen alongside it.
- Millesimal
- The amount of pure gold in a thousand units of alloy. 22-karat gold contains 916 millesimal, 18-karat 750 and 14-karat 585.
- Fine gold
- Pure (24-karat) gold. Used as the base unit in pricing and in cash balances.
- Per mille (‰)
- A ratio meaning so many units in a thousand. The buy and sell spreads in a price definition use this unit: 10 per mille equals 1%.
- Added millesimal profit
- Profit added to every gram of a product, expressed in millesimal. It does not change the physical karat; it is only used in the selling-price calculation.
- Purchase labour
- The labour added to the gold value when you buy a product from a supplier. Recorded as none, added millesimal, a percentage or a fixed amount.
- Consumables
- Costs such as stones, fittings or packaging, totalled for one piece. Included in the base cost.
- Current base cost
- The sum of the gold value, the purchase labour and the consumables. Profit is added on top of this amount.
- Shared selling price
- The price every piece of a product sells at. A cost specific to one piece does not change it.
- Product-free sale
- Adding a sale line by entering an asset or unit and a quantity without selecting a product card. Used when selling scrap or currency.
- Individual product
- A product whose every physical piece is tracked separately by its own barcode. Different from a unit-tracked product and a gram-tracked precious metal.
- Piece
- A single physical instance of a product card. It has its own barcode, an optional RFID code, a location and a history.
- RFID EPC
- The electronic product code carried by an RFID label. Entered with a suitable reader or by hand; the camera does not read RFID.
- Stock location
- Where a piece physically sits. It may be a branch or a display case; it is not a payment account.
- Consignment
- Holding goods that belong to a supplier in order to sell them. Handover creates no debt; the quantity sold is owed at the agreed amount.
- Interaction
- A record used in the conversion calculation: a product view or a scan made for a sale. Repeats inside the same record count as one interaction.
- Conversion rate
- The ratio of interactions matched to a sale over total interactions. It does not express a number of customers or units sold.
- Offset
- Closing a receivable and a payable against each other. It appears as the payment / offset line in the refund form.
- Payment receipt
- The document for a bank transfer. In an e-commerce payment the customer uploads up to five; uploading one is not an approval.
- Withdrawal condition
- The recorded condition covering a product's right of withdrawal: standard, tied to market fluctuation, made to order, or a sealed hygiene item.
- Price fixing
- Keeping a quoted price valid for a set time. Configured in minutes on the staff account and independent of stock reservation.
- Collection limit
- The limit on cash collection explained on screen. Read from the link on the sale screen.
- Asset / unit
- The kind of value picked in a product-free sale: gold karats, coin types or currencies.
